Worriers For Art
A warrior will fight,
And the worrier will think.
Be a worrier for art.
Do not worry that your art might lack,
Or about how others may see it.
Do not war for the art of the past,
And against the art of the future.
Do not worry that art takes time,
And you have so little of it to give.
Do not war to keep art same,
And to destroy that which was honestly made.
Instead…
Worry that your art will not be yours
If you make it to please others.
War for your art that lies deep within
That it may one day embrace the light.
Worry that without honest art
Our stories will grow cold,
And the flames of a vibrant life
May never be shared with another.
War for the love that art grows
Inside each who earnestly embrace it,
And war for the truth within us
That longs to be spoken.
Be not a warrior for heartless creations,
Nor worrier for yourself.
But become the Warrior for Others,
Granting strength to those in need.
And become the Worrier for Art,
That frantically reminds oneself;
My love for you is my art,
And my art will always love me,
If I remember to fight for what’s right.
And when I create, truthfully.
